Kizimkazi: an authentic fishing village

Sarabi means mirage. Every day around 6pm the sun sets over the island. For one special moment, when the sun touches the sea, the sea turns into a mirage creating an unforgettable sight. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing this amazing sunset with you. Karibu Sarabi!

We believe we have found a very special place and we want to share it with you. Kizimkazi is a village located on the southern part of Zanzibar. It is famous for the schools of bottle nosed and humpback dolphins that call Kizimkazi their home. We look forward to showing you all of Kizimkazi’s hidden gems.

Village Tour

Are you curious to find out more about the people and the village of Kizimkazi? A local guide will show you around and give you insights on life in this authentic fisherman’s village.

Swimming with Dolphins
Only a short boat ride away from our hotel you will find an area that is home to several schools of dolphins. Get into the water and play with the famous bottle-nosed or humpback dolphins.
Fishing
Did you know Zanzibar is one of the best deep sea fishing spots in the Indian Ocean? Get ready to see for yourself! An experienced guide will take you to the best fishing spots where you can expect to find barracuda, dorado, striped marlin or tuna. If it’s your lucky day you might even spot a swordfish or a sailfish. The fishing trip departs directly in front of the hotel. Completely hassle-free.
Diving
Whether you are an experienced diver or a first-timer, Zanzibar’s underwater world will amaze you. The crystal-clear waters, beautiful coral reefs and underwater wild life will make for an experience you won’t forget. Our own diving school provides all the training and equipment so get ready to spot sea turtles, dolphins or (when in season) even a humpback whale!
Snorkeling
You don’t need to go diving to experience the amazing underwater world of Zanzibar. A boat ride will take you to a reef for you to explore. All you need to do is put on your snorkels and immerse yourself in a world full of color and marine wildlife.
Jozani Forest
Jozani forest is the National Park of Zanzibar. It is the largest forested area on the island. It is the only place to spot one of the rarest species of monkeys: the endangered Red Colobus monkey. There is a lot more flora and fauna to explore in the park including several bird species, butterflies and a variety of wild animals. The forest is surrounded by mangroves and salt marshes creating a truly unique wildlife habitat.

If you’re feeling ready to explore more of the island we can arrange half- or full day trips for you. Options include but are not limited to: Stone Town, Prison Island, Chumbe Island, a blue safari or spice tour. Together we can work out an itinerary just for you!
